Frequently asked questions

Why does my feed say “No papers today”?

arXiv doesn’t publish every day (it skips weekends and U.S. holidays). Arxivist automatically jumps to the most recent day that has papers. You can also pull down to refresh, or use the date arrows to browse the last 14 days — a day you haven’t visited yet fetches automatically.

Why do some days show no papers even on weekdays?

New papers are announced once per day, usually after 8 PM U.S. Eastern time. If you open the app before then, the latest batch may not be posted yet — pull to refresh later.

How are papers ranked?

An on-device machine-learning model compares each paper to your research profile (from your author history, keywords, or topic picks) and to papers you’ve bookmarked. Higher matches appear first. Nothing about your interests is ever uploaded.

How do I improve my recommendations?

Bookmark papers you like — the app blends your bookmarks into the ranking over time. You can also update your profile any time from the Profile tab.

How do I change my categories or research interests?

Go to Profile → Update Research Profile to rebuild your profile by author name or keywords, and to adjust your arXiv categories (up to 7).

Is my data private?

Yes. All data stays on your device. See the Privacy Policy.

I’m offline — does the app still work?

Yes. Previously fetched papers and your bookmarks are cached on-device for 14 days. New papers require a connection.
